The Sweetbriar Photo Club was founded in 1997 by Ed Sambolin. Ed was an exceptional wildlife photographer who loved to teach and share his passion with others. One of the ways he did this was through the club he formed. From its beginnings, the group met at the Sweetbriar Nature Center, and it took its name from theirs. Actually, the original name of the club was Sweetbriar Nature Photography Club. However, in 2018, its members decided they wanted to be inclusive of photographers of other genres, such as architecture and portraiture, for example. And so they decided to change its name to what it is now, the Sweetbriar Photo Club.
